Henri MOUNIER
was born in the Cognac
area and made an honourable carrier in the French Merchant Navy as a Captain.
In 1858
, together with Jean SALMON, a Cellar Master, and Eugène BELLET, owner of an estate planted with vineyards, he initiated a wholesale company specialised in spirits, under the name of « MOUNIER & Cie
».
|
The three partners exported the Cognacs
they produced in bulk, to Holland at first, then to other countries in Northern Europe.
In 1874, Henri MOUNIER created his own company to sell Cognac
in bottles rather than bulk, both in France and abroad, under the name of « HENRI MOUNIER & Co
».
Later, the company’s name was shortened into the simpler designation of « H. MOUNIER
».
Ever since its creation, H. MOUNIER has always made a point of defending the quality of the products it sold, by controlling every single step in the production process.
As a result, it gained general esteem in the world of wines and spirits through its acknowledged know-how and the constant quality of its products.
Today, the company concentrates on its Cognac
brand POLIGNAC, as well as the REYNAC Pineau des Charentes
.
